page 8 . . . Haw Par Villa grounds
| Remember King Kong's brother in front of our shelter? There were what looked like emus opposite him. O_o
| Emus, with turtles wearing curved conical hats on them.. O_O I wish I had a better pic of the turtles. *_* I liked them.
| And lordy.. *_* Of all things, koalas.
| And kangaroos! *_* Or maybe they're wallabies? I don't really know the diff.
| And here's the gigantic apes. *_*
| I dunno. I thought they were out of place and ugly. -_-
| Here's a shrine to a buddhist deity. Actually, these yellow shrines with the gold buddha? I'd always seen them as a Thai religion, ie, the Thai branch of buddhism. Because people at home who prayed to them brought the religion home from Thailand.
| Admittedly, while I had no problem taking pics of just about everything, I wasn't very comfortable being so close to this "statue" and taking pics of it. Because this is an idol people actually worship (ie, pray to), it had made me feel uncomfortable taking pictures because I had felt disrespectful.
| We made our way back to the beginning of the park and there were these huge bas-reliefs. (Okay, I grabbed that word from the dictionary when I had been checking if "relief" was the right word to use).
| Basically, they are almost 3D figures coming out of the walls. They make for good pictures. ^_^
